The 2023/24 Premier League campaign is nearly two months old and already we have a title race hotting up.
Of course, champions Manchester City lead the way although Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool are all in pursuit. Brighton and Newcastle make up the chasing pack but Manchester United and Chelsea are faltering behind.

This article will look at who you should be backing when placing a Premier League title wager this season.
The favourites
Manchester City are the massive favourites again, having lifted the Premier League title four times in the last five seasons. With Erling Haaland scoring for fun and Pep Guardiola on the touchline, it’s hard to bet against them.
Saying that, Arsenal ran City close last season and has started this campaign strongly too. Manager Mikel Arteta has boosted his squad over the summer and has a number of options to utilise.
Liverpool is another pick for fans and observers alike though it’s fair to say they are weaker than past seasons and are going through a transitional stage.
The dark horses
Tottenham have impressed under new manager Ange Postecoglou with progressive and proactive football, winning five of their opening seven matches. Losing all-time goalscorer Harry Kane to Bayern Munich was a huge blow but, so far, it appears Spurs are still able to find the net.
Newcastle, meanwhile, lost only five Premier League matches last season and have already been beaten three times this campaign. However, they are building a quality squad at St James’ Park. The Magpies are in the Champions League too and while that means added games, the thrill of European competition could spur them on domestically.
Brighton is an outside bet but it would take something special for the Seagulls to claim the title.
Already out of the running?
Manchester United have won more league titles than any other club in English football history though haven’t lifted the Premier League trophy since 2013 when the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson was still in charge. They have had a faltering start to the season and already trail the teams at the top.
Chelsea too, who won the Premier League in 2017, finished in the bottom half of the table last season and have also had a slow start to the campaign under Mauricio Pochettino.
Overall, Manchester City are the clear favourites to be top dogs again this season though Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham could all spring a title push as things stand.
