Bodø/Glimt have been one of the surprise packages in the Champions League this season, and on Tuesday evening their run continued.
The Norwegian side have defied expectations time and time again, going toe to toe with some of Europe’s biggest clubs and showing absolutely no fear on the biggest stage. Their relentless intensity and complete belief has made them one of the most exciting teams to watch in the competition this year.
Despite coming second behind Viking in the Norwegian league in the 2025 season, they have been flying in the Champions League, especially since the turn of the year. Despite showing obvious quality against some top teams, even the boldest bettors or gangstasino casino gamblers have still been reluctant to get behind them, though maybe the performances against some of Europe’s historically great sides might change a few minds ahead of the coming rounds.
After winning their playoff against Sturm Graz to secure a place in the league stage, they began their campaign with a 2-2 draw away at Slavia Prague, coming back from 2-0 down thanks to second-half goals from Daniel Bassi and Sondrey Fet to rescue a point.
Their second match followed a similar pattern, as they earned another 2-2 draw, this time against English side Tottenham. Bodø/Glimt had taken control through a brace from Jens Hauge in the second half, but were eventually pegged back as Tottenham responded to level the match.
Then came their first real wobble in the Champions League, as they were dismantled by Galatasaray in a hostile Turkish atmosphere, a night where momentum completely swung away from them.
Things did not get any easier when they returned home, suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Monaco in a match that saw Jostein Gundersen sent off, leaving them chasing the game with ten men.
To make matters worse, they then faced Italian giants Juventus, and despite putting in a brave performance, they fell to a narrow 3-2 defeat, with the decisive moment coming through a Jonathan David goal for the Italian side.
That result left them staring down the reality of their situation. With Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Atletico Madrid still to play in 2026, their hopes of securing knockout football looked extremely unlikely.
However, what came next was nothing short of remarkable, as the Norwegian side began to play out of their skin when it mattered most.
It started with a huge result away at Borussia Dortmund, where they earned a 2-2 draw in one of the toughest away fixtures in European football, showing they could compete with the very best.
Then came the night that changed everything.
On home soil, they stunned Manchester City in a famous 3-1 victory. Kasper Hogh fired them into the lead with two goals in quick succession, completely catching City off guard and sending the home crowd into disbelief. Hauge would later add another to make it three.
While Rayan Cherki pulled one back for City, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation as Bodø/Glimt held on for one of the most famous victories in their history.
Yet somehow, they were not done there.
Just a week later, they travelled to Madrid to face Atletico Madrid, one of the most feared sides in Europe, on their own soil.
Alexander Sorloth gave the Spanish side an early lead inside 15 minutes, and it looked like the night would follow the expected script.
But the Norwegians refused to accept that.
Fredrik Sjovold pulled them level before Hogh struck once again to fire the Norwegian side into a stunning 2-1 lead. What followed was pure resilience, determination, and belief, as they held firm under relentless pressure to secure another historic victory.
The result sealed an unlikely place in the knockout stages of the Champions League, completing one of the most extraordinary turnarounds of the campaign.
Their reward? A tie against three-time European champions Inter Milan.
Roared on by their home support, the Norwegian side secured a stunning 3-1 victory. Fet opened the scoring, before Hauge once again stepped up on the big stage to double their advantage. Hogh then added a third, putting Bodo Glimt firmly in control of the tie and sending shockwaves across Europe.
A week later, they travelled to Italy to face Inter Milan at the hostile San Siro, one of the most iconic and intimidating stadiums in world football.
The first half saw Inter create several chances, and at times, Bodø/Glimt were riding their luck, surviving waves of pressure from the Italian giants.
Yet, just like they have done throughout the campaign, they refused to break.
Hauge, the man who continues to define this European run, fired Bodo Glimt into the lead on the night, silencing the San Siro and putting the tie beyond Inter’s reach. Hakon Evjen would later add another, sealing a famous result and completing a stunning 5-2 aggregate victory.
Alessandro Bastoni did manage to pull one back for Inter, but it came far too late to change the outcome.
With that, Bodø/Glimt made history.
For the first time in the modern era, a Norwegian side had eliminated one of Europe’s elite and progressed into the Last 16 of the Champions League, continuing a run that is no longer a surprise, but a statement.
