Can Tammy Abraham Win EPL Golden Boot Award?

The Premier League’s Golden Boot is one of the most prestigious awards in football. Last year, the crown was shared by three players Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as each of them had 22 goals. It was the third time in EPL history the award has been handed to three players in the same season.

Chelsea’s striker Tammy Abraham and Sergio Aguero currently lead the pack with eight goals each. The 31-year-old Argentinean is the odds-on (10/3) favourite to win the award for the second time in his illustrious career. However, Pep Guardiola’s rotation policy could cause the Argentinean to miss out on the Golden Boot this season.

Aguero might be the best attacking option, but it’s well-known that Pep tries to rotate his forwards. We should also consider the fact that Kun faces plenty of stiff competition this season from Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane, Aubameyang, and Abraham. Therefore, Aguero isn’t a safe bet, as the odds indicate.

On the other hand, Chelsea’s rising star has been on quite a roll lately. Frank Lampard’s team won three matches in a row and broke through in the top 4. The former Chelsea midfielder leads a young team with Fikayo Tomori, Mason Mount, and Abraham, taking their spot in the first-choice eleven.

Remarkable Turnaround in Abraham’s Fortunes

Abraham faced a lot of criticism after missing opportunities against Manchester United and Liverpool at the start of the season, but he has been on fire since then. He joined Aguero at the top of the scoring charts, and his EPL Golden Boot odds have dropped all the way from 125/1 in July.

With Eden Hazard gone from the team, Chelsea needed someone new to lead their front line. The 22-year-old has quickly made a name for himself and rightfully replaced Hazard. His Golden Boot credentials are more far-reaching than a hot start of the season.

Abraham was prolific at Aston Villa last season, although he scored most of his goals coming from the second tier. His game is versatile he’s a threat in the air, he can run in behind exceptionally well for his height and is capable of finding gaps in a deep defence, as we’ve seen in his performance against Lille in the Champions League.

Is Abraham a Good Bet?

With only nine matches into the 2019/20 EPL campaign and an early advantage over several other Golden Boot favourites, Abraham’s 13/2 price is worth a punt. While the 13/2 odds might seem like a risk not worth taking, there’s a way to boost your winnings.

In practice, no deposit bonuses give players a totally risk-free chance to win real money. No deposit bonuses are difficult to come by, so this presents a solid business opportunity. A 13/2 price on Abraham to win the Golden Boot award doesn’t sound that bad when it’s on the house, right?

All the other top candidates for the Golden Boot award have something working against them. Rotation and fitness could harm Aguero’s chances of winning his second Golden Boot. Mane and Salah play on the same team. Aubameyang will be shifted wide again once Lacazette recovers from injury. Abraham leads the offence in Chelsea, and if he stays healthy, chances are that he’s going to remain the main man on the team.

Chelsea is creating plenty of chances, with Abraham being the team’s focal point of the offence. Hudson-Odoi has just recovered from an injury, Ruben Loftus-Cheek has yet to return to the side, and Christian Pulisic is starting to fire. This means that Chelsea has a first-class supporting cast to keep providing Abraham with opportunities.

He’s going to score the majority of Chelsea’s goals, and if the team continues to play offence at this level, he might become the 2019/20 EPL Golden Boot winner.
