The Best Premier League Ball Designs From The Last Five Years

The second half of the Premier League 2025/26 season has seen some history-making moments. One being the first season with PUMA as the official ball supplier. Whether you’re betting on football or cheering from the sidelines, the details are sometimes what make the game so highly anticipated.

With this in mind, let’s take a look at the iconic ball designs from the past five years.

Nike Merlin 2019/2020

Retaining the features of its predecessor, the Merlin 2019 ball carries oversized pink ‘Swooshes’ framing a large Premier League logo. A pink panel with a splash graphic highlights the logo, with details in navy and white finishing the look. Technically, the same as the Premier League ball 2018/19, the 2019 ball transitions us away from the purple, aqua, and yellow of the previous season.

For the second half of the 2019/2020 season, the Nike Merlin 2020 donned the name “Tunnel Vision”. Featuring a white and black canvas, large orange circles ensured clear visibility on the pitch. Inside one of the panels, you can see a graphic of the Premier League trophy, alluding to the “Tunnel Vision” of the final, and most crucial, stage of the season.

What’s more, the 2020 ball integrated 3D-printed textures, from Nike Aero Trac grooves and four-panel construction, to ensure control in all weather conditions.

Nike Flight 2020/2021

In 2020/2021, the Premier League ball’s orange circles turned to red stripes that appear to echo a ball in motion. The base is white and black, with a classic black Swoosh and Premier League logo.

In the second half of the season, the Nike Flight 2021 ball maintains a white base, but the Swoosh turns red, and red logos atop navy circles. A gold trophy sits centre stage, crowned by a white Premier League logo.

Nike Flight 2021/2022

The first half of this season features a ball with a fresh design. Technically identical to the ball from the previous season, this design featured white, black, and red patterns that did not follow the form of the panels, but rather the spherical shape of the ball itself.

A similar circular design donned the ball for the second half of the season, with light blue and red sitting atop the familiar white ball. A smaller black Swoosh accompanied minimal logos.

Nike Flight 2022/2023

Gold crosses framed with red and blue seemed a fitting way to celebrate 30 years of the English Premier League. One side featured a large Swoosh next to the Premier League logo and the text “Nike AerowSculpt”, and the other side featured a massive NIKE print.

The latter half of this season saw the ball keeping a similar design, but the crosses turned more artistic and featured red and purple with black detailing on a white background.

Nike Flight 2023/2024

The 2023 ball has a refreshed colour palette. While the white base remains the same, we see splashes of orange, black, and purple in a design that follows the ball’s curvature. New Aerowsculpt technology meant the ball boasted moulded grooves and a textured surface.

The second half of the 2023/2024 season showcased a ball that was still derived from the Nike Flight, with a textured surface and new technology, but shades of purple, pink, and black seem to explode in geometric precision on the classic white surface of this design.

Nike Flight 2024/2025

The neon yellow, modern volt surrounds purple elements of the Nike Flight 2024. With features consistent with previous seasons, this ball features black logos, iconic shapes, and vintage Nike lettering.

Paying tribute to the Nike Total ball of the 2005/06 season, the Nike Flight 2025 has been reimagined. Bold blue stripes that encompass purple and lighter accents look like pulsing electric in a loop on the centre of the ball. A black Nike Swoosh and gold detailing for the logo on the top of the ball for the end of this season.

Puma Orbita Ultimate 2025/2026

The first season with PUMA as the supplier, Puma Orbita Ultimate features graphic patterns in purple, pink, and black on a clean white background. Built on the Puma Orbita platform, angular and zigzag shapes give the ball a sense of speed, while 12-panel construction and thermally bonded seams ensure shape retention, flight consistency, and touch responsiveness.

The “Under the Lights” edition of the ball debuted on November 8, 2025, making history as fans placed their English Premier League 2025/26 bet on the match between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
