Transfer Round-up: Gotze Could Still Sign Despite Final Loss

Sky Sports reported a £31 million bid had been rejected for the forward and this was later confirmed by West Ham co-owner David Sullivan’s teenager son on Twitter. However, French media believe the bid was closer to the £25 million mark.

It remains to be seen if West Ham will return with a further bid for the French international but the news surely flies in the face of Sullivan’s previous claims that The Hammers couldn’t afford Liverpool striker Christian Benteke.

Lacazette who was in the past week omitted from the French national team squad for Euro 2016 in his home country has also been linked with moves to Tottenham Hotspur and PSG.

Meanwhile West Ham are also among four English Premier League clubs named by L’Equipe with have an interest in Nice midfielder Nampalys Mendy.

The French newspaper claim Southampton, Sunderland and newly crowned champions Leicester City all maintain an interest in the player. However, The Foxes interest is dependent on the future of N’Golo Kante.

Manchester City are expected to push ahead with an attempt to sign German international Leroy Sane from Schalke 04 this summer.

Sane has the qualities that Pep Guardiola may seek to unlock a defence being a  very strong dribbler who can play anywhere along the forward line. When played out wide he does like to cut inside and shoot.

He appreciates a strong tackle, a trait that may help him settle in the English Premier League should a move to an English club materialise. Sane is the son former footballer and Senegalese international Souleyman Sane.

Swansea City are interested in bringing Junior Hoilett to the Liberty stadium this summer after his contract at QPR expires this summer.

The West London club have been in talks with the Canadian international about a new contract recently but a move back to the Premier League may be more tempting.

German newspaper Bild report that Liverpool’s bid for World Cup winner Mario Gotze hinged on the outcome of Wednesday night’s Europa League final between Liverpool and Sevilla.

Bayern Munich are willing to sell the attacking midfielder for €25 million and joining up with his old Borussia Dortmund manager would surely appeal to the player.

It seems unlikely though that the report claiming Liverpool need Champions League qualification to finance a move for Gotze is true, with the Anfield club posting bumper profits recently and the new tv revenue in place.
