Big news coming from Paraguay suggests there could be a reunion between former English Premier League players, Emmanuel Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz.
The pair previously played together at Manchester City, and today John Waler Ferrari of Futgol 970 has reported that Adebayor is set to join his former teammate at Paraguayan side, Olímpia.
So far this season, Roque Santa Cruz has scored five times in just three matches, continuing to prove he still has plenty to offer at 38 years old. Could his former teammate, the 35-year-old Adebayor, be set to follow in his footsteps?
Adebayor is currently a free agent after leaving Turkish club Kayserispor in December 2019. During his time at the club, he played eight games scoring two goals.
“It looks like its happening,” a source told WFi.
“His last season wasn’t the best but in Paraguay, he can make the difference.”

The Togo international was part of an Istanbul Basaksehir side who went close to claiming their first Turkish League title in 2019.
If the deal does go through for the Paraguayan champions, it will show a huge statement of intent and will provide a huge boost to their chances of Copa Libertadores glory.
Asunción-based Olimpia are currently enjoying a dominant spell in domestic football, after winning four league titles in a row, their next step is for success on the continental stage.
Olímpia kicks off their Libertadores campaign in March, where they will be aiming to claim their fourth title, their first since way back in 2002. They have been placed in group G alongside Defensa y Justicia, Santos and Delfin.
In 2013 González joined Olimpia on loan, and during this spell he scored an impressive nine goals in 20 matches.
“I promise work and more work. The first time I came to Olimpia many people came to welcome me,” González said.
“A month ago I promised that I would return, and one always returns to where he was happy.”
Upon capturing his man, Olimpia’s president, Marco Trovato, took the opportunity to mention the possible signing of Adebayor.
“If by Monday we wake up with 40 thousand new members, Emmanuel Adebayor will be presented on Wednesday,” he quipped.
We could be about to see one of the highest-profile signings in Paraguayan football history.
