It is often said that the best players do their talking on the pitch. That of course is very true, but some of us want more from those that play the beautiful game.
Brazilian midfielder Socrates was a visionary passer of the ball and an expert reader of the game. His name alone provokes images of a great thinker.
Socrates was as intelligent off the pitch as he was on it and is still revered today for not only his influence on Brazilian football, but also its national politic.
This documentary is about how he turned every Corinthians’ match into a political meeting to support democracy in a country that was living under a dictatorship. Socrates would have been 62 today (19th February 2016) and this film is a birthday cake that we can all have a slice of.
